William Ransom Roberts collection.

This collection consists of a diary and a photograph arranged in two series. The first series contains the diary, a 94-page, unbound, hand-written diary describing Roberts' experience during the Spanish-American War. Includes descriptions of many battles, including San Juan Hill. The second series consists of a photograph, ca. 1898, of Roberts, apparently taken at the time of his enlisment.

William Ransom Roberts was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. At the age of 21, he enlisted in Company M, 34th Michigan Infantry, and mustered in on May 21, 1898, at Island Lake, Michigan.
